The Bluebirds have flown through a wonderfully full season of 1940s performances as part of VE Day 80 commemorations across the UK. From Middlesbrough to Suffolk, and Clitheroe to Weston-super-Mare, our calendar has been packed with events that honoured the spirit of the 1940s and we couldn’t have been prouder to be part of it.
Every performance felt like a heartfelt tribute and this year, more than ever, we were reminded of how important our work is. Bringing the sounds and sentiments of the wartime era to towns and cities across the country was a genuine honour.

One especially moving part of our journey this year was our return to Brittany Ferries for the 81st anniversary of D-Day. Travelling once again to Normandy, we had the privilege of meeting veterans- some familiar faces from last year and some new heroes with incredible stories. Standing with them, singing for them, and hearing their memories was something we’ll never forget.

Our tribute show in Normandy welcomed an audience that truly spanned the generations- from newborn babies to centenarians. It was incredible to witness how this era of music still resonates so strongly, travelling through time and touching hearts of all ages.
There was something deeply special about seeing a toddler dance to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” while a veteran quietly sang along in the background. It reminded us of the power of music to connect us- across generations, history, and borders.

We’ve still got a few exciting events lined up in June, and we’re especially looking forward to an Italian adventure back on board with Saga very soon!
We’re also thrilled to share that our brand new showreel is about to be released- Watch this space!
With love,The Bluebirds 💙🎙️
